Journal 78 – International Women’s Day

Today, March 8, the Polish people celebrate International Women’s Day. In Poland, this holiday is marked solemnly every year. From days when communism collapsed, March 8 is simply an occasion for men to express their love and esteem to the women.
I remember these celebrations with great clarity. I didn’t like these ceremonies, because they usually had an “artificial character”, especially at the work.

Yes...I can see how it might be artificial. I'd rather have men treat me equally and with respect all year long, than have one special day for them to pretend!
